I come from a small town in North Central Arkansas. After graduating high school, I moved to Missouri. A few years later, I was married and had my first child. Fast forward about 20 years to today, and I’m now a mom of six.
Our youngest children are identical twin boys. They were born at just 24 weeks and 4 days gestation and weighed less than 2 pounds each. Being micro preemies, they spent several months in the NICU before we were able to bring them home. When my husband and I realized they would be coming home on oxygen, we felt it was important for me to be home to care for them. So, I left my job at the hospital to be the caretaker for our boys. Later, this would give me the opportunity to start working on furniture again, but first, let me share how it all started.
My love for redesigning furniture actually started in 2017, when a flood destroyed almost everything we owned. To help with the cost of refurnishing our home, I started buying used furniture pieces to fix up. This wasn’t anything that I had done before, but I found it to be very satisfying. There was something about seeing these pieces being brought back to life that brought me such joy. It sparked a fire in me. By the end of 2020, when the twins were in much better health, I decided to start working on furniture again.
I definitely have a passion for upcycled furniture and the restoration process. I pour my heart into each piece that I create. It’s wonderful to see the love shown for these pieces once again.
I decided to start blogging about my experiences redesigning furniture, so that I might inspire others to see the potential in themselves and in other furniture pieces. I have a true love for DIY and decor and will be sharing some of that as well.
So, between chasing toddlers and cleaning messes, you will find me in the garage working on my next furniture project. I hope that you will follow along with me as I continue to create beauty from the ashes of these old, broken pieces.
